Google is expanding its AI-powered Inbox experience to Gmail for Android and iOS after first introducing the feature on the web platform.
On mobile devices, “AI Inbox” now appears in the navigation drawer below the standard Inbox, similar to the desktop layout. Google has also added a more prominent shortcut in Gmail’s bottom navigation bar, where AI Inbox sits between Gmail and Chat, creating a 4-tab layout alongside Meet.
The update reflects Google’s larger vision for an AI-driven inbox experience that prioritizes tasks and important actions over individual emails.
The AI Inbox interface closely mirrors the desktop version. Users are greeted with a summary showing pending to-dos and topics that require attention. The feature includes sections such as “Suggested to-dos” and “Topics to catch up on” to help users manage conversations and tasks more efficiently.
Currently, AI Inbox is available in beta for Google AI Ultra subscribers.
At the same time, Google is making its “Help me write” feature more personalized with new AI-powered capabilities aimed at improving email drafting and productivity.
One of the key additions is topic contextualization. The feature can now connect with Google Drive and Gmail based on user prompts, allowing it to automatically pull relevant information from connected apps and insert it into email drafts. This reduces the need to switch between apps while searching for details, documents, or references.
Google is also introducing tone and style personalization. With this update, Help me write can generate email drafts that better match the user’s previous writing style and communication tone.
According to Google, the enhancements are designed to reduce cross-Workspace app switching, manual typing, copy-pasting, and formatting efforts.
The company highlighted several workplace use cases for the feature, including responding to customer and partner inquiries, sharing documents and project updates, requesting feedback, introducing new projects, exploring partnerships, teacher-parent communication, and drafting grant proposals.
