Expanding its wearable portfolio, Google has launched the Fitbit Air, a compact and screenless fitness tracker designed for continuous health monitoring without distractions. Positioned as a competitor to Whoop, the new device focuses on comfort, affordability, and round-the-clock usage.
The Fitbit Air is priced at $99.99 (roughly Rs. 9,400) and is currently available for pre-order globally. Sales will begin on May 26. Buyers will also get a 3-month trial of Google Health Premium, which includes access to Google Health Coach for personalised insights and recommendations.
The company also introduced a Fitbit Air Special Edition, co-designed with Stephen Curry. This version features a rye brown and orange Performance Loop band with a water-resistant coating and textured interior to improve airflow during workouts. It is priced at $129.99 (roughly Rs. 12,300) and will go on sale in the US starting May 26. Additional accessory bands will be sold separately, starting at $34.99 (roughly Rs. 3,300).
The Fitbit Air comes with a compact “pebble” design and does not include a display, allowing users to wear it without notifications or interruptions. All health data and insights are accessible through the Google Health app on a connected smartphone.
The wearable supports continuous health tracking features such as heart rate monitoring, heart rhythm tracking with AFib alerts, blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking, resting heart rate monitoring, heart rate variability tracking, sleep stage analysis, and sleep duration tracking.
For fitness tracking, it includes automatic workout detection and manual logging options, along with guided workouts through Google Health Coach. It supports interchangeable bands, including the Performance Loop Band made from recycled materials, a sweat-resistant Active Band, and an Elevated Modern Band designed like a fashion accessory.
Google claims the Fitbit Air delivers up to 1 week of battery life on a single charge. It also supports fast charging, with a 5-minute charge offering up to 1 full day of usage.
