Adobe expands AI features with smart agent and interactive PDF sharing tools

In a move to expand its AI capabilities, Adobe has launched a new productivity agent for Acrobat along with enhanced features for PDF Spaces. The updates aim to improve how users create, manage, and share digital content using artificial intelligence.

The productivity agent is an AI-powered tool designed to work within Acrobat. It can generate text, images, and rich content such as presentations, podcasts, and social media posts by using multiple tools and models together.

The new features are available under Adobe’s paid plans, including Acrobat AI plans like Acrobat Studio, AI Assistant, and Adobe Express Premium. They are also included in Acrobat Express, a new product that combines AI-powered document insights and content creation tools. However, PDF Spaces can be viewed by anyone, even without an account.

Adobe describes the productivity agent as an AI assistant that can access external tools and complete tasks independently. It can work with Adobe’s own creative agent as well as third-party agents. “We’re bringing together decades of Acrobat’s document intelligence with agents to help people discover insights faster, generate visually rich content effortlessly and share interactive experiences with customised agents that convey their tone and intent,” said David Wadhwani, President, Creativity & Productivity Business, Adobe.

Users can give simple prompts, and the AI agent can create titles, summaries, audio overviews, images, and fully customised documents. It also uses context from past files and brand guidelines to ensure consistency in output.

Adobe has also upgraded PDF Spaces with new sharing and publishing capabilities. Users can now combine PDFs, documents, links, and notes to create a personalised space. The productivity agent can help build and refine these spaces with structured content and multimedia elements based on user preferences.

“We’re not just adding new features, we’re introducing a new format. For the first time, sharing documents means sharing an experience that’s tailored to your intended audience, whether that’s a client, a team or a million subscribers. Now, every one of those experiences can be as personal and purposeful as the work that went into creating it,” said Abhigyan Modi, SVP, Adobe Document Cloud.
