Morphing Machines secures ₹42 Cr to scale next-generation semiconductor technology

Strengthening India’s semiconductor ambitions, Morphing Machines has raised ₹42 Cr as part of its Series A round, taking the total funding to ₹80 Cr. The round was led by Hero Enterprise Partner Ventures, with participation from Colossa WomenFirst Fund and Navam Venture Fund I.

The funds will be used to advance development and testing of its first production chip, convert customer engagements into pilot deployments, strengthen its software toolchain, and expand its engineering team.

Founded in 2005 by S K Nandy and Ranjani Narayan, and currently led by Deepak Shapeti since 2021, the company is incubated at the Indian Institute of Science. It focuses on building advanced semiconductor solutions for modern computing needs.

The company is developing its flagship REDEFINE processor, a runtime reconfigurable core designed for data centres, AI infrastructure, and high-performance computing. Its many-core architecture adapts in real time to different workloads, allowing a single chip to support multiple applications without separate hardware.

Morphing Machines has also developed its own compiler, which converts software applications into hardware execution patterns to improve efficiency and performance across use cases.

Earlier, the startup raised ₹38.4 Cr from investors including IAN Alpha Fund, Speciale Invest, IvyCap Ventures, Golden Sparrow Ventures, IIMA Ventures, and DeVC.

Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its global presence, focusing on markets such as the US and Europe, where demand for efficient computing infrastructure is increasing. It is also preparing for a full-scale commercial launch next year and is already engaging with cloud providers, hyperscalers, and enterprise data centre operators.

The startup operates in a competitive landscape alongside InCore Semiconductors, Calligo Technologies, Netrasemi, and Mindgrove Technologies.
