UST signs MoU with IIT Roorkee hub to drive engineering innovation

In a step toward strengthening India’s engineering and research ecosystem, UST has signed an MoU with iHUB DivyaSampark IIT Roorkee, a technology innovation hub at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and a joint initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The partnership aims to accelerate progress in engineering R&D and deep-tech innovation.

The MoU was exchanged at the UST campus between Manish Anand, CEO, iHUB-IIT Roorkee, and Dileep Sivan Pillai, Vice-President and Head of India Business, UST, in the presence of senior leaders from both organisations. UST has earlier signed similar MoUs with BITS Pilani, IIT Madras, Western Sydney University and T-Works.

The collaboration is expected to create scalable and high-impact solutions by combining UST’s strengths in embedded hardware, firmware engineering, cloud platforms, AI/ML and data science with iHUB DivyaSampark’s strong research, innovation and start-up ecosystem, a spokesperson said.

Both organisations will work together on next-generation technologies across key areas such as cyber-physical systems, advanced digital engineering and AI-driven applications. They also plan to build customised solutions to meet operational and on-ground requirements for clients in India. The partnership will support joint research and development, technology transfer and commercialisation to deliver real-world impact.

Alexander Varghese, President, UST, said this collaboration represents a pivotal step in advancing engineering R&D and deep-tech innovation in India. “We will create a powerful platform to co-develop solutions that address complex, real-world challenges. Together, we aim to accelerate innovation and deliver scalable, high-impact solutions that drive meaningful and lasting change,” he added.

Manish Anand, Chief Executive Officer, iHUB-IIT Roorkee, said the partnership will bring together academia, research and industry to address key business challenges. “We will leverage iHUB DivyaSampark’s focus on cyber-physical systems and innovation and UST’s global technology expertise to develop advanced, application-oriented solutions.”
