In a move to enhance user experience, Yelp has introduced a new AI chatbot designed to provide personalised business suggestions by analysing its vast database of reviews.
The chatbot can quickly scan through Yelp’s 330 million reviews to offer relevant recommendations. CEO Jeremy Stoppelman said the tool can process hundreds of reviews in seconds, making it faster and easier for users to find suitable options.
To maintain transparency and reduce misinformation, the chatbot also displays the specific reviews that influence its suggestions. Chief Product Officer Craig Saldanha said the goal is to balance advanced technology with genuine human insights.
Amid strong competition from Google, Yelp is also partnering with OpenAI to integrate its data into ChatGPT. This collaboration is aimed at expanding its reach and supporting its $1.5 billion annual revenue.
The development highlights Yelp’s strategy to strengthen its position in the competitive digital services space through AI-driven innovation.
