In this role, Gautam will focus on execution excellence, faster project delivery, and successful implementation of large-scale metro projects, including the Mumbai Metro Line-3 corridor.
The Mumbai Metro Line-3 (Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ corridor) is a 33.5 km fully underground project designed to reduce congestion, improve connectivity, and enhance urban mobility in the city. The corridor is expected to serve over 16 lakh commuters daily, connecting major business districts, educational institutions, and transport hubs, and strengthening the public transport network.
Before joining MMRC, Gautam Birhade served as Executive Director at Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited, where he led key underground metro projects, including the Swargate–Katraj corridor, along with procurement and contracts.
Earlier, he worked as Chief Engineer (Construction Projects) at Indian Railways, where he led the execution and commissioning of nearly 60 km of railway projects, including new and third-line developments.
During his tenure with Maha-Metro, he also served as Executive Director (Civil), playing a key role in delivering metro viaducts, stations, and major infrastructure packages from foundation to commissioning, supporting the rollout of Pune Metro corridors.
With over 30 years of experience in railways and metro infrastructure, Birhade brings strong expertise in civil engineering, project execution, bridge design, and transportation infrastructure, making him a key contributor to India’s urban mobility transformation.
