Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Amazon’s cloud infrastructure in Bahrain has reportedly suffered damage following an الإيراني strike, with limited details available on the extent of the impact.
According to a report by a news publication, a source familiar with the matter confirmed that Amazon’s operations were affected. Bahrain’s interior ministry stated that civil defence teams were “extinguishing a fire in a facility of a company as a result of the Iranian aggression,” without directly naming Amazon.
The incident comes shortly after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warned that US companies operating in the Middle East, including Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Meta, could be targeted.
Amazon has not issued an official statement on the latest development. However, its cloud division, Amazon Web Services (AWS), has reportedly faced multiple strikes in the region during the ongoing conflict.
This marks the second disruption in recent weeks. Last month, Amazon confirmed that AWS services in Bahrain were “disrupted” due to the conflict. The company said it was working to restore services and advised customers to shift workloads to other regions.
“As this situation evolves and, as we have advised before, we request those with workloads in the affected regions continue to migrate to other locations,” Amazon said in a statement.
The full extent of the damage and the timeline for recovery remain unclear. AWS plays a critical role in supporting global websites, enterprise systems, and government operations, and is also a major contributor to Amazon’s profits.
In a related development, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reportedly issued warnings to 18 US companies, including those in technology and finance sectors. The message, shared on a messaging platform, accused these companies of acting as “spies” for the US government.
The IRGC stated that US ICT and AI companies are involved in designing and tracking targets and warned that such institutions would now be considered legitimate targets.
