India’s leading crypto exchange CoinDCX has announced a ₹100 crore investment to launch the Digital Suraksha Network, a cyber safety initiative aimed at strengthening trust across the country’s digital finance ecosystem.
The announcement comes shortly after co-founders Sumit Gupta and Neeraj Khandelwal were granted bail in a fraud case linked to an impersonation website.
According to the company, the fraud involved a fake domain that had no connection with CoinDCX’s platform or systems. The court noted that no prima facie case was established and confirmed that no transactions were routed through the exchange.
CoinDCX stated that the incident highlighted broader gaps in detecting and preventing digital fraud. The Digital Suraksha Network is designed as an ecosystem-level initiative rather than a company-specific solution.
As part of the rollout, CoinDCX will introduce a 24×7 WhatsApp helpline to help users verify suspicious links, platforms, and offers before making transactions. The company will also launch an open fraud intelligence API to share real-time data on fraudulent domains. It has already identified over 1,200 such websites impersonating its brand.
The initiative will further support cybercrime units through training programs focused on blockchain forensics and digital asset tracking. Additionally, a nationwide awareness campaign titled “Caution Before Transaction” will promote safe digital practices among users.
CoinDCX highlighted that the increasing sophistication of fraud networks, including cross-border operations and the use of AI tools, has made detection more challenging. It emphasised the need for collaboration between exchanges, banks, fintech firms, and regulators to tackle the issue effectively.
With this investment, CoinDCX aims to build shared infrastructure that enhances security, trust, and resilience across India’s growing digital economy.
