Kaspersky plans to expand India operations as regional hub amid rising cyber threats

Kaspersky is set to increase its investments in India following strong financial performance and growing demand for cybersecurity solutions. The company is considering positioning India as a regional hub for marketing, business development, and cloud operations to serve both domestic and international clients.

Adrian Hia said the company witnessed strong double-digit growth in 2024, with 2025 results expected to show even better performance. “We are going to continue to double down, not only in people, not only in offices, but we are now even thinking of how we can get some consolidated effort regarding marketing, business development engine, cloud services, cloud engine, to be based in India, but not only to serve the Indian customers, but also to serve customers across the region, (Our) investment has paid off. We are very confident that this year is going to be an even better year than 2025,” he said.

He added that setting up a data centre in India could significantly increase hiring. Highlighting the threat landscape, Hia warned that cyber-attacks are expected to rise further in 2026.

Kaspersky reported blocking over 4.7 crore web-based threats in India in 2025. Hia noted that the growing accessibility of AI tools has made threats like deepfakes more advanced, stressing the need to “use AI to fight AI”. “Harness the power of AI, No matter which country you are from, wherever you are, because our digital footprint today is beyond just one single device. The way that we use social media, the way that we have more and more services digitally, it is increasing the attack surface. So, is it going to come down in 2026? Unfortunately, no. I think it’s going to get worse,” he warned.

He also highlighted risks linked to interconnected systems such as healthcare, banking, and payments, cautioning that supply chain attacks could have a cascading impact.

Hia praised the government’s data tiering approach but noted that sovereign Large Language Models require countries to take full responsibility for cybersecurity risks.

He pointed to “SOC as a Service” as a growing trend, with over 90% of Indian enterprises having SOC strategies and more than half exploring service-based models for cost efficiency.

On AI-led job disruption, he said routine tasks like basic accounting and coding may be affected, advising professionals to upgrade their skills.
