Argentina has introduced updated immigration rules allowing visa-free entry for US Green Card holders and certain US visa holders, in a move aimed at simplifying travel procedures and boosting international mobility.
The new policy reflects confidence in the US documentation system and is designed to ease entry for eligible travelers. Under the revised rules, individuals holding a valid US permanent resident card (Green Card) can enter Argentina without a visa, subject to meeting other standard entry requirements.
Additionally, travelers with valid US visas in categories such as B1/B2, B2, J, B1, O, P (P1, P2, P3), E, and H-1B are also eligible for visa-free entry, provided they meet all necessary criteria.
The updated regulations extend to nationals of India, China, and the Dominican Republic. Eligible travelers from these countries can enter Argentina without a visa if they hold either a valid US visa under the specified categories or a valid US Green Card.
However, individuals who do not fall under these categories will still be required to obtain an Argentine visa before travel.
Commenting on the development, Matias Celatti, Lead Consultant at an immigration services firm, said, “This regulatory update provides additional flexibility for travelers who already hold qualifying US immigration documentation. By recognizing US visas and permanent resident cards as alternative entry credentials, Argentina reduces administrative requirements and helps facilitate international mobility.”
He further added, “For employers managing global mobility programs, the change may streamline short-term travel planning for eligible employees while maintaining compliance with Argentine immigration rules. Organizations should still confirm eligibility and ensure that travelers hold valid documentation before departure to cross borders with confidence.”
The move is expected to make travel smoother for professionals and frequent travelers, while maintaining regulatory compliance.
