Starlink begins satellite internet service in Kuwait as Elon Musk announces rollout

Satellite internet services are expanding to new regions as demand for reliable connectivity grows. Starlink, the satellite internet network developed by SpaceX, is now available in Kuwait. The announcement was confirmed by Elon Musk on X, where he wrote, “Starlink now available in Kuwait!”

With the rollout, users in Kuwait can now purchase Starlink kits and subscribe to the service. The official Starlink account on X also shared an image indicating that the entire country is now covered by its satellite network.

The launch comes during a period of regional tension linked to the ongoing US–Israel–Iran conflict. Kuwait has been affected by developments in the region, with reports of Tehran targeting critical infrastructure and military sites in the country, including Kuwait International Airport.

According to the Starlink website, the company has received approval from the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) to offer its services in Kuwait. Earlier this month, the country experienced internet disruptions, although the regulator said the issue was not related to the conflict.

Starlink operates through a network of thousands of satellites placed in low Earth orbit at an altitude of around 550 km. This positioning allows faster data transfer speeds and lower latency compared to traditional satellite internet services. The system is designed to deliver high-speed connectivity, especially in remote and low-density regions.

In Jan this year, Starlink also received approval from the Federal Communications Commission to deploy 7,500 additional second-generation satellites to expand its global network.

Users in Kuwait can subscribe through the Starlink website. The Residential plan costs 31 KWD per month (around ₹9,300). Customers can choose the Mini Kit priced at 92 KWD (around ₹27,600) or the Standard Kit costing 122 KWD (around ₹36,700). The company is also offering the first month of service for free.

Starlink has also been working to enter the India market and is currently seeking regulatory approvals. In Dec 2025, a technical glitch on the website briefly showed the service available in India at ₹8,600 per month.

Following the issue, Starlink VP Lauren Dreyer wrote on X, “We’re eager to connect the people of India with Starlink’s high-speed internet, and our teams are focused on obtaining final government approvals to turn service (and the website) on.”
