Strengthening its footprint in India, German automation technology company Festo has inaugurated a global capability centre (GCC) in Bengaluru. The move marks a major step in expanding its engineering and digital services operations in the country.
The new centre brings together functions that were earlier spread across the region. It will support product development, application engineering and customer training. The facility will also serve clients across Asia Pacific, along with Festo’s internal manufacturing units.
Festo said the Bengaluru GCC is expected to generate 600 jobs in engineering, software development and operations over the coming years. The centre will focus on automation, industrial internet and smart manufacturing solutions. It will offer advanced design and testing capabilities, helping speed up product iterations and reduce time to market through integrated digital engineering tools and simulation platforms.
The company described the investment as part of a broader strategy to deepen engagement with local industry and academic partners. It plans to roll out structured training modules to upskill technicians and engineers in automation technologies.
Festo will work closely with educational institutions and industry associations to tailor curricula and apprenticeship programmes that address local skills gaps. The programmes will link classroom learning with hands-on project work to improve employability and accelerate the adoption of advanced manufacturing practices.
The company believes India offers a strong talent base and a growing market for automation technologies. By consolidating operations under one roof, Festo aims to strengthen support for local supply chains and enhance collaboration across its regional network.
Local officials welcomed the launch of the GCC, highlighting its potential to drive employment and technology transfer within Bengaluru’s manufacturing ecosystem. Industry observers believe the centre could further boost the region’s automation landscape and encourage more global firms to expand their technical operations in India.
Festo reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the Indian market and to building capabilities aligned with the country’s industrial growth plans.
