Samsung plans deeper AI integration across Galaxy ecosystem with Perplexity AI

Moving toward a more open and flexible AI experience, Samsung Electronics has announced plans to integrate Perplexity AI into its Galaxy ecosystem. The initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to build an open, integrated multi-agent system that helps users complete everyday tasks more easily.

Instead of limiting AI features to individual applications, Samsung aims to make AI assistance feel more natural by embedding it at the operating system level. This approach is designed to reduce friction and create a smoother user experience across Galaxy devices.

Samsung’s internal research shows that user behavior around AI is changing rapidly. Nearly 80% of users now rely on more than 2 types of AI agents depending on the task. As AI becomes a regular part of daily routines, users frequently switch between assistants for search, productivity, reminders, and content creation. In response, Samsung is evolving Galaxy AI to support a wider choice of integrated AI agents.

Galaxy AI is being positioned as a unifying layer that brings multiple AI capabilities together into a single system. “Galaxy AI acts as an orchestrator, bringing together different forms of AI into a single, natural, cohesive experience,” said Won-Joon Choi, President, COO, and Head of the R&D Office, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. The system operates at the framework level, removing the need for users to jump between apps or repeat commands.

Perplexity AI will be introduced as an additional agent on upcoming flagship Galaxy devices. Users will be able to activate it using a dedicated wake phrase, “Hey Plex,” or through quick-access options such as pressing and holding the side button. Samsung also plans to integrate Perplexity AI into select native apps, including Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar, along with some third-party apps. This is expected to support smoother multi-step workflows.

The move reflects a wider industry shift toward open AI ecosystems rather than dependence on a single assistant. By positioning Galaxy AI as a coordinator of multiple agents, Samsung is focusing on user choice and flexibility over exclusivity. Details on supported devices and rollout timelines will be shared later, but the direction is clear. Samsung wants Galaxy AI to serve as the connective layer that brings different forms of intelligence together into one seamless experience.
