Senegal introduces digital reporting platform to strengthen child cybercrime protection

In a move aimed at improving online safety for minors, authorities in Senegal have launched a dedicated digital platform to report cybercrimes targeting children. The initiative focuses on strengthening prevention, faster reporting, and more effective investigation of online violations affecting young users.

On February 12, 2026, Divisional Commissioner of Police Moustapha Diouf, Deputy Director of the Judicial Police, officially introduced the new reporting system. The platform was developed by the Special Division to Combat Cybercrime for the Protection of Children Online, with support from UNICEF.

The initiative is designed to enhance the technical and operational capabilities of the Special Division to Combat Cybercrime (DSC). Authorities said it will improve prevention, detection, investigation, reporting, and response mechanisms related to online crimes involving children.

The launch ceremony took place at the Directorate of Training, formerly known as the National Police School. The event brought together representatives from cyber security organizations and child protection institutions. Participating bodies included the Child Protection Support Cell (CAPE), Children’s Village SOS, the General Directorate of the Prisons Administration, the General Directorate of Customs, the Center for Studies of Information and Communication Sciences and Techniques (CESTI), the Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Communications, and EXPRESSO Sénégal.

During the session, Commissioner of Police Pope Mamadou Djidiack Faye, Chief of the Special Division to Combat Cybercrime, presented a detailed overview of the platform’s functions. Participants welcomed the initiative and highlighted its potential to improve how cybercrime cases involving children are reported and managed.

Authorities encouraged citizens to actively use the platform and reaffirmed their commitment to online safety. The police stated, “To serve is our vocation; Protect is our mission; In honor of serving the law,” emphasizing their continued focus on protecting the public in digital spaces.
