Samsung sets timeline for AR glasses with multimodal AI features

A long-awaited product from Samsung is now officially on the way, as the company has confirmed it will launch its AR glasses later this year.

The announcement was made during Samsung’s Q4 2025 earnings call. Seong Cho, EVP of Mobile Experiences, shared the update while outlining the company’s plans for 2026. Speaking about Samsung’s XR strategy, he said the company aims to deliver “rich, immersive multimodal AI experiences” across new device formats, including “next-generation AR glasses.”

This is the first time Samsung has linked its AR glasses project to a clear launch period, shifting it from speculation to confirmed product plans.

Earlier reports had revealed that Samsung was working on XR glasses and shared early information such as model numbers and connectivity options. A later update from a tech publication said the company is developing 2 versions of the glasses. One model is identified as SM-O200P, while the second carries the label SM-O200J. The differences between the 2 are not yet known, but both are expected to target the same markets. This points to possible regional versions or hardware variations rather than separate product lines.

The same report said the glasses may include a built-in 12MP camera with autofocus, a Qualcomm AR1 chipset, and a 155mAh battery. These details are based on early information and are not yet confirmed by Samsung.

Although Samsung has now acknowledged the product and its timeline, the launch is not expected immediately. The company introduced its Galaxy XR headset in October last year, and a similar late-year window is seen as a likely target for the AR glasses.

With this move, Samsung is positioning its AR glasses as part of a broader push into AI-driven extended reality devices. The focus on multimodal AI suggests that the glasses will support voice, vision, and contextual inputs to create more immersive digital experiences.
