A new budget-friendly electric mobility option is gaining attention as Jio has started bookings for its electric cycle, aimed at students and daily commuters seeking relief from rising fuel costs.
The electric cycle is priced at ₹15,000 and is available with EMI plans starting at ₹999, depending on tenure and lender terms. It offers a claimed range of 100Km on a single charge, making it suitable for short city rides, coaching classes, and last-mile travel. The combination of low upfront cost, affordable monthly payments, and long riding range has made it attractive to first-time buyers and low-income users.
The cycle follows a simple, utility-focused design. It uses a reinforced frame for regular city use and wider tyres for better grip and balance. LED lights improve visibility during early mornings and evenings while keeping power use low. The lightweight build supports easy handling in traffic and while parking. The design avoids extra complexity to keep maintenance easy and affordable over time.
Rider comfort has been kept practical. The upright riding posture reduces fatigue during daily rides of 10Km to 25Km. A cushioned seat and easy handlebar reach help new riders adjust quickly. Controls are simple to use, and a compact digital display shows speed, battery level, and remaining range in Km. The motor runs quietly, which improves overall riding comfort.
A 100Km range supports common city routines. At 15Km per day, the cycle can run for about 6.7 days, and at 20Km per day, around 5 days. Actual range depends on factors such as rider weight, speed, road conditions, tyre pressure, and assist level. The battery is placed to resist splashes and bumps for long-term use. Battery health and warranty clarity remain important for long-term savings.
Charging can be done at home using a normal socket. Charging time varies by battery size, but safe and consistent charging is a key focus. Performance is tuned for smooth acceleration and controlled city speeds. Stable braking, tyre grip, and predictable handling improve safety. Basic battery locking and anti-theft measures add confidence when parking in public places.
Running costs remain low. With electricity priced at about ₹8 per unit and average usage of 1,000Km per month, the cost is around ₹50 to ₹100. The mix of ₹15,000 price, ₹999 EMI, and 100Km range positions this cycle as an entry-level mobility solution for everyday needs.
