Apple has shared new details about the future of Siri, confirming that its voice assistant will soon be powered by Google’s Gemini models while continuing to prioritise user privacy. The update was discussed during the company’s fiscal Q1 2026 earnings call held on Thursday, where executives addressed questions around artificial intelligence strategy and partnerships.
During the call, CEO Tim Cook and CFO Kevan Parekh spoke about the collaboration with Google but did not disclose any financial terms. Cook explained that the partnership is designed to deliver new user experiences without compromising Apple’s long standing privacy standards. He said Siri will continue to process data on device and through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute system, ensuring user information remains protected.
Cook also clarified that Apple’s own artificial intelligence development will continue alongside the Gemini partnership. He stated that Apple’s internal AI work will not replace or interfere with Gemini and directly addressed speculation around Apple moving away from external models. According to Cook, the personalised version of Siri is being built in collaboration with Google, while Apple remains focused on creating intelligence features that feel personal and private across its platforms.
When discussing Apple Intelligence more broadly, Cook said the company is working to integrate intelligence deeply into the operating system to add value across devices and services. However, both Cook and Parekh declined to share details on how many users currently have access to Apple Intelligence features. They also did not comment on whether these features are influencing iPhone sales or upgrade decisions.
Earlier this month, Apple and Google confirmed that Apple selected Gemini after reviewing multiple options. The Gemini models will support more contextual and personalised Siri features across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The companies also said that a more personalised version of Siri is expected to roll out later in 2026.
