TRAI drive test ranks Reliance Jio fastest for mobile data speeds in Delhi

A recent network performance assessment in the national capital has placed Reliance Jio at the top for mobile data download speeds, based on real-world testing conducted by the telecom regulator.

According to the latest Independent Drive Test (IDT) report released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Reliance Jio recorded the highest average mobile data download speeds in Delhi. The assessment was carried out by TRAI’s Regional Office in Delhi between December 15 and December 18, 2025, to evaluate actual user experience across the city.

The drive tests covered 347.4 kilometres of city routes, 12 hotspot locations, and 7.8 kilometres of walk tests. Network performance was evaluated across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies, depending on availability, covering urban roads, public transport hubs, institutional areas, and high-speed corridors.

Voice service performance in Delhi

The report shows that Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited achieved a Call Setup Success Rate of 98.36 percent in auto-selection mode across all available network technologies. Airtel recorded a Call Setup Success Rate of 100 percent, Vodafone Idea Limited recorded 99.64 percent, and MTNL recorded 95.23 percent.

Average Call Setup Time for Reliance Jio stood at 0.59 seconds. Airtel recorded 0.76 seconds, Vodafone Idea Limited recorded 0.58 seconds, and MTNL recorded 3.27 seconds.

In terms of Drop Call Rate, Reliance Jio recorded 0.36 percent, Airtel recorded 0.12 percent, Vodafone Idea Limited recorded 0 percent, and MTNL recorded 6.60 percent. The Mean Opinion Score for voice quality was 4.44 for Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea Limited, 3.98 for Airtel, and 2.75 for MTNL.

Data performance across networks

For data services, Reliance Jio recorded an average download speed of 265.51 Mbps across 5G and 4G networks in Delhi. Airtel recorded 168.92 Mbps, Vodafone Idea Limited recorded 34.35 Mbps, and MTNL, operating on 3G, recorded 4.40 Mbps.

Average upload speeds were measured at 22.33 Mbps for Reliance Jio, 25.54 Mbps for Airtel, 22.96 Mbps for Vodafone Idea Limited, and 1.19 Mbps for MTNL. Latency at the 50th percentile was recorded at 20.16 milliseconds for Reliance Jio, 21.09 milliseconds for Airtel, 20.19 milliseconds for Vodafone Idea Limited, and 22.06 milliseconds for MTNL.

Areas covered

The survey included locations such as Hauz Khas, Greater Kailash, Lajpat Nagar, Khan Market, Paharganj, and Punjabi Bagh. Key public sites like India Gate, New Delhi Railway Station, Jama Masjid, Rashtrapati Bhawan, and ISBT Kashmere Gate were also tested. Walk tests were conducted in Connaught Place and Chandni Chowk.

TRAI said the findings have been shared with all telecom service providers, and the full report is available on the regulator’s official website.
