Syngenta strengthens Pune GCC to drive AI-led innovation and growth

In a move that reinforces India’s role in its global strategy, Syngenta has announced a major expansion of its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Pune, sharpening its focus on artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and global business support.

The expanded Pune facility highlights Syngenta’s commitment to digital transformation and strengthens the city’s position within the company’s worldwide technology and operations network. The GCC currently employs more than 1,100 professionals and serves as a critical support hub for global finance, IT, digital functions, and AMEA regional operations.

Over time, the Pune center has grown into a key engine of innovation for Syngenta. With a strong emphasis on data science and AI, the GCC plays a central role in advancing digital capabilities that support the company’s global agricultural business. The company said it is actively deploying AI-powered solutions to boost operational efficiency and drive innovation across multiple functions.

The company noted that the expansion also enhances employee opportunities. Professionals at the Pune GCC gain exposure to global work environments, cross-functional roles, and structured career development pathways. This approach aligns with Syngenta’s broader goal of building future-ready talent while scaling its digital initiatives.

The expansion marks an important milestone in Syngenta’s nearly 10-year presence in Pune and underlines the city’s growing reputation as a global capability and innovation hub. It also reflects the rising importance of India in the global agricultural technology ecosystem.

Syngenta is a global agriculture company focused on improving food security by helping farmers use resources more efficiently and sustainably.

“Syngenta GCC serves as a strategic engine for innovation and talent development, strengthening India’s contribution to Syngenta’s global operations while creating valuable employment opportunities in the agriculture sector,” said Abhishek Agarwal, Head, Syngenta Global Capability Center Pvt Ltd.

“Technology and Artificial Intelligence have the potential to revolutionize agriculture. Syngenta is committed to building innovative technology solutions that help farmers across the world,” said Salil Bongale, Head of ITD Pune Center & Enterprise Integration, Syngenta Global Capability Center Pvt Ltd.
