Meta rolls out software update v21 for AI smart glasses with noise control and smart music features

A new update to Meta’s AI powered smart glasses is set to make daily use more practical as the holiday season approaches.

Meta has announced software update v21 for its AI powered smart glasses, introducing new features focused on clearer conversations, Spotify powered music discovery, and overall usability. The update is designed to improve everyday experiences by enhancing audio clarity and adding smarter entertainment options.

One of the key additions in the update is the Conversation Focus feature. This feature is built to help users hear better in noisy environments. It works by amplifying the voice of the person speaking while reducing surrounding background noise. The system uses open ear speakers that are built into the glasses to deliver clearer call audio for both the user and the person on the other end.

The Conversation Focus feature is expected to be useful in locations such as restaurants, trains, and crowded events. Users can control the level of voice amplification by swiping on the glasses or by adjusting the settings through the connected smartphone.

The rollout of software update v21 is currently limited to early access users. The update and its features are supported on Ray Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN smart glasses. At present, availability is restricted to the US and Canada.

Alongside audio improvements, Meta is also introducing a new Spotify integration with Meta AI. The company described this as the first multimodal AI music experience for smart glasses. With this feature, users can give a voice command such as “Hey Meta, play a song to match this view.”

The smart glasses use computer vision to understand what the user is looking at and then combine it with Spotify’s recommendation system to play music that fits the moment.

Meta confirmed that the Meta AI and Spotify feature will be available in the English language across multiple countries, including India.
