A new push into advanced artificial intelligence is taking shape as Xiaomi Technology rolls out an open source AI model aimed at global competition.
The Chinese technology company has introduced MiMo V2 Flash, an open source AI model designed to compete with leading players such as DeepSeek AI, Moonshot AI, Anthropic, and OpenAI. The model is available worldwide through Xiaomi’s MiMo Studio, Hugging Face, and its API platform. It is built to support reasoning, coding, agent based tasks, and everyday assistant use cases.
Xiaomi highlighted the model’s low operating cost, priced at $0.1 per million input tokens and $0.3 per million output tokens. The company also said MiMo V2 Flash can deliver inference speeds of up to 150 tokens per second, positioning it as a cost efficient option for developers and enterprises.
On performance benchmarks, Xiaomi claimed the model matches or exceeds several leading AI systems. MiMo V2 Flash is said to be on par with Moonshot AI’s Kimi K2 Thinking and DeepSeek V3.2 in reasoning tests. It also outperformed Kimi K2 in long context tasks. In agent based evaluations, the model achieved a score of 73.4% on SWE Bench Verified, coming close to OpenAI’s GPT 5 High. Xiaomi also stated that MiMo V2 Flash matched Anthropic’s Claude 4.5 Sonnet in coding tasks at a much lower cost.
Luo Fuli, a former DeepSeek researcher and member of Xiaomi’s MiMo team, described the launch as “step two on our AGI roadmap.” He added that the model moved from concept to production within a few months.
Industry analysts view the launch as a boost to Xiaomi’s broader AI strategy, supporting its hardware and electric vehicle ecosystem. Xiaomi president Lu Weibing said returns from AI investments have “far exceeded expectations” and pointed to a growing focus on embodied AI for electric vehicles and robotics.
