SBI Life Insurance has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of KRC Murty as Executive Vice President and Head of IT for Business Systems.
Murty will be based in Mumbai and will lead the insurer’s IT business systems function. His role will focus on platform stability, operational efficiency, and technology enablement aligned with business growth. The appointment comes as life insurance companies accelerate digital transformation to improve customer experience, resilience, and regulatory readiness.
Before joining SBI Life Insurance, Murty was Senior President and Head of AMG and IMG Business and Digital Technology Solutions at YES Bank. There, he managed large scale business and digital technology portfolios and played a key role in enterprise technology strategy, leadership development, and complex transformation programs in a highly regulated banking environment.
Earlier, Murty spent close to 5 years at Kotak Mahindra Bank as Head of RTB Information Technology. In this position, he was responsible for run the bank operations, system stability, risk management, and continuous improvement across critical IT platforms supporting core banking and business operations.
A major part of his career was at Deutsche Bank, where he worked for over 13 years in several senior leadership roles. He led technology support for Global Markets, Asset Management, and Private Wealth Management businesses. He also served as Head of Market Data Services for South Asia, managing one of the largest market data portfolios in the region. In addition, he oversaw end user services across corporate banking, investment banking, retail banking, and securities businesses, while supporting senior management and driving automated trading initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Murty worked at Merrill Lynch as Assistant Vice President Technology, where he headed end user computing for the India office network.
With over 20 years of experience across global banks and financial institutions, Murty brings deep expertise in IT operations, market data services, technology governance, and large enterprise environments. His appointment is expected to further strengthen SBI Life Insurance’s technology foundation as the company continues to scale its digital and business capabilities.
