A proposal to scale an AI powered Skill Census across Andhra Pradesh was discussed at the national level as the state looks to strengthen its technology and skilling ecosystem.
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh met Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology and Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi and outlined the results of a pilot Skill Census conducted in Mangalagiri. The Minister sought central support to expand the initiative across the state.
During the meeting, Lokesh explained that the pilot faced certain challenges, which were addressed through the introduction of an AI based interview mechanism. According to an official release, the Union Minister responded positively to the request for central assistance.
Lokesh also requested support for building startup and innovation hubs in Andhra Pradesh. He highlighted the need for backing AVGC XR centres, IndiaAI expansion, and technology focused platforms to boost innovation and entrepreneurship in the state.
The discussion followed Lokesh’s recent visit to the United States, where he held meetings with senior leaders from global technology companies including Google, NVIDIA, Adobe, and other major American firms. During these interactions, he presented Andhra Pradesh as a fast emerging destination for technology, innovation, and advanced manufacturing.
The outreach generated strong interest from global players in setting up Global Capability Centres, research and development facilities, and electronics manufacturing units in the state. Lokesh briefed the Union Minister on these outcomes and the growing appetite among international companies to expand their presence in India through Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting also covered potential collaboration in areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, electronics manufacturing, digital infrastructure, and other emerging technologies, with Andhra Pradesh positioned as a key growth hub.
Emphasising the state’s startup push, Lokesh urged the Centre to extend support through the MeitY Startup Hub to the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub, which is planned as a platform for young entrepreneurs and startup founders.
He further sought cooperation to establish Centres of Excellence under AVGC XR and WAVEX frameworks, with a focus on InnoXR, animation, AR VR, and immersive technologies.
Support under the IndiaAI Mission was also requested to speed up the adoption of artificial intelligence across governance, education, skilling, and industry led innovation in Andhra Pradesh.
