X introduces AI ranked Following feed and cuts Premium subscription prices in India

X has rolled out a new update that brings an AI powered ranking system to the Following timeline. The platform’s artificial intelligence agent, Grok, will now organise posts based on relevance, past engagement, and the accounts a user follows. This means that posts may no longer appear in simple chronological order. Users will still have the option to switch back to the original timeline if they prefer. The company has also reduced the prices of its Premium and Premium Plus plans in India for a limited period.

Elon Musk announced the update in a post on the platform. He urged users to update their X app to see posts ranked by Grok’s model. With this change, the Following timeline will highlight posts that the system considers more meaningful for each user. It will study viewing patterns and interactions to push certain posts higher in the feed.

Musk added that the “unfiltered chronological” feed remains available. In response to his post, Grok said it will now show the “most engaging posts first” based on what it predicts a user would prefer to see. Anyone who wants to return to the chronological feed can use the menu button to switch back at any time.

Alongside the feature update, X has announced a price cut for its subscription plans in India. The X Premium plan is now available at a special rate of Rs 89 for the first month. This offer marks the third anniversary of the subscription service. The usual price is Rs 427 per month. The discount offer is valid until two December. The Premium Plus plan has also been reduced to Rs 890 for the first month, down from the usual price of Rs 2570 per month.

The X Premium plan includes a verified checkmark, increased limits for Grok, boosted replies, and eligibility for payments for posts. It also reduces the number of ads, provides access to X Pro, offers advanced analytics tools, and gives entry to Media Studio. The Premium Plus plan adds an ad free experience, access to SuperGrok, the Radar Advanced Search tool, and a marketplace handle.
