WhatsApp is testing a new feature on iOS that could make it easier for channel admins to grow their audience. The Meta-owned messaging app may soon allow admins to share channel invite links directly with their contacts, boosting engagement and reach. The feature is currently in the TestFlight beta programme and is available to select iPhone users.
Admins will reportedly be able to notify up to 64 contacts at once. The invitation message includes an action button, letting recipients preview the channel and follow it instantly. Beta testers can access the feature from the channel information page, where WhatsApp automatically generates the invite message for selected contacts.
To avoid spam detection, WhatsApp reportedly uses a temporary broadcast list, meaning only contacts who have saved the admin’s number will receive the message. This feature was previously introduced in the Android beta 2.26.1.8 update.
The iOS beta version for this rollout is 25.37.10.74, and WhatsApp plans to expand access to more devices over the coming days, according to reports from a messaging app tracker.
WhatsApp has also been adding other features recently, including ads in WhatsApp Status updates, new emojis in the reaction tray for quicker access, and updates to the Peripherals list in the Linked devices menu.
This new channel invitation feature gives admins a simpler way to connect with followers directly while improving visibility for their content within the app.
