WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature that utilizes artificial intelligence for text editing, which will allow users to proofread, rephrase, and rewrite their messages in various styles. A report from Media indicates that version 2.25.8.5 of WhatsApp contains code suggesting the platform is experimenting with this AI-driven writing tool that can be accessed directly within the chat interface.
What to anticipate from WhatsApp’s new text editing feature
This AI-enhanced tool will be able to proofread messages for spelling and grammar mistakes, rephrase them for better clarity, and condense the text. Additionally, it is expected to offer options for rewriting messages in different tones, such as humorous, pun-filled, sarcastic, spooky, or supportive.
According to reports, future updates may introduce a Pencil button located just above the Send button when users compose a message. Clicking this button would open a text editor within WhatsApp.
Currently, this feature is still in development. If users attempt to access it now, they will see an empty bottom sheet on their screen, as reported by Media. More information about this feature is anticipated in the upcoming weeks.
In related news, WhatsApp is also testing a feature that generates AI-powered profile photos. A recent report from Media states that this feature will provide users with a new method to create personalized and distinctive profile pictures using AI technology. It appears that this feature has begun rolling out to a select group of users for beta testing.
