Starlink might may face competition from Chinese satellite broadband providers in India

Starlink is about to begin its satellite broadband service in India, and the government’s regulatory permission is anticipated shortly. The business has joined together with Jio and Airtel to distribute its equipment across the nation. Starlink is preparing to increase its presence in a number of other countries in addition to India. With more than 7 million consumers, its internet service is currently available in 125 countries.

But in the near future, Chinese satellite broadband companies like SpaceSail may pose a serious threat to Starlink. The business is getting ready to enter areas including Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and Brazil.

Elon Musk wants Starlink to add at least one million new customers annually, and if the company launches in India, this aim can pick up a lot more steam. However, there are worries that Starlink may face difficulties as a result of these Chinese businesses’ entry.

Amazon Kuiper and regional carriers like Jio and Airtel will compete with Starlink in India. With stakeholder and expert discussions almost over, the telecom regulator is ready to allot spectrum for satellite services.

Since 2022, Starlink has been holding off on launching its services in India. SpaceX satellites in near orbit around the planet provide this high-speed internet service. Given that it has collaborated with Jio and Airtel, which is encouraging for a prompt approval, Starlink is scheduled to formally launch its operations once the required regulatory license and spectrum allotment from the Government of India are obtained.

The government’s efforts to combat cyber fraud, meantime, are accelerating and don’t appear to be slowing down. Authorities have blocked more than 3,000 Skype IDs, more than 780,000 SIM cards, and more than 83,000 WhatsApp accounts as of February of this year.
