Shell Lubricants has successfully completed the acquisition of Raj Petro Specialities Pvt Ltd, strengthening its presence in the Indian lubricant market. The company announced the acquisition on Tuesday, stating it had purchased 100 percent equity from the Brenntag Group. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
This acquisition marks a significant step in Shell’s strategy to expand its product portfolio and customer base in India, a key growth market. Raj Petro, headquartered in Mumbai, has been in the industry for over 80 years and operates manufacturing units in Chennai and Silvassa. The company offers a wide range of products including transformer oil, petroleum jellies, white oils, waxes, and lubricants.
“The acquisition of Raj Petro Specialities supports Shell Lubricants as it strives to grow its portfolio and customer base in India, which is one of its key growth markets,” Shell said in a statement.
Jason Wong, Executive Vice President for Global Lubricants at Shell, said, “The addition of Raj Petro Specialities will help maximise value for Shell through a complementary product portfolio and increased scale of business, positioning Shell Lubricants for further growth in line with our unwavering focus on performance, discipline, and simplification.”
The deal enhances Shell’s reach across sectors such as power transmission, personal care, and pharmaceuticals. It also aims to create new synergies and efficiencies across the lubricants value chain. Raj Petro has a global footprint with business partners in around 100 countries and serves diverse sectors including automotive, food and pharma, engineering, construction, mining, steel, textiles, and railways.
