New details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 suggest that the foldable smartphone may not feature a larger battery than its predecessor. The device is expected to launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 during Samsung’s usual summer launch event, which typically takes place in July.
According to a recent report, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could continue using a split battery design similar to earlier models. This design allows battery components to be placed in both halves of the foldable device.
The report claims the phone may include two battery cells rated at 1,150mAh and 3,024mAh. Together, they provide a combined rated capacity of 4,174mAh. The handset is expected to be marketed with a typical battery capacity of 4,300mAh, the same capacity offered by the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Although the battery size may remain unchanged, the device could still deliver improved battery life through better hardware and software optimisation. A similar approach has reportedly been used in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is said to achieve longer battery performance than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra despite offering the same battery capacity.
Earlier leaks have also suggested that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 might not bring major upgrades to its camera system. This indicates the device could focus more on gradual improvements rather than significant hardware changes.
The foldable smartphone is expected to run on the Exynos 2600 chipset, which is reportedly built using a 2nm manufacturing process.
Samsung is also planning large-scale production ahead of the expected launch. Reports indicate that the company aims to manufacture around 3.5 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and 3 million units of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 during the second half of the year.
The higher production target for the Fold model suggests Samsung expects stronger demand for the book-style foldable. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 reportedly outsold the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 in 2025.
In terms of pricing, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to start at around EUR 1,199 (approximately Rs. 1,27,200) for the 256GB storage variant. In India, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 currently starts at Rs. 1,09,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model.
