Oracle appoints Hilary Maxson as CFO to steer financial strategy in AI era

Oracle has appointed Hilary Maxson as its new Chief Financial Officer, strengthening its leadership as it expands aggressively in AI and cloud infrastructure.

Maxson joins from Schneider Electric, where she served as Executive Vice President and Group CFO since 2017. Her appointment is effective immediately, and she will report to Oracle’s co-CEO Clay Magouyrk.

The move fills a critical gap in Oracle’s leadership structure. The company had been operating without a conventional CFO role after Safra Catz took on combined executive and financial responsibilities. Doug Kehring, who served as Principal Financial Officer, will now transition to focus on go-to-market operations.

The appointment comes at a time when Oracle is scaling up investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centres. The company has committed significant capital to expand its cloud capabilities and meet rising demand for AI-driven services.

Oracle said the leadership change is aimed at strengthening financial oversight as it manages capital-intensive growth. The company emphasised the need for disciplined capital allocation, efficient capacity expansion, and continued innovation.

Maxson brings extensive experience across infrastructure, energy, and finance, aligning with Oracle’s transition from a traditional software company to a cloud and AI-focused business.

Her appointment also comes amid increasing investor attention on Oracle’s rising expenditure and financial strategy as it accelerates its AI ambitions.
