Oneplus 15R leak reveals bold design, snapdragon chip & fast charging ahead of India launch

The smartphone manufacturer, OnePlus, has officially started teasing the upcoming OnePlus 15R for the Indian market. The official promotional material hints that this premium R series smartphone is set for a global debut soon, following the recent launch of the OnePlus 15. The device confirms the brand’s intention to release a strong mid premium contender for the Indian audience.

While the company has not yet given an official launch date, market reports suggest the device may appear around the middle of December. The launch pattern is expected to mirror that of the OnePlus 15, with an initial launch in China followed by a global rollout. The expected price range is between ₹45,000 and ₹49,999, positioning the 15R as a premium mid range device for performance focused users.

New Key and Top Tier Specifications

One of the reported changes is the reworking of the classic alert slider. It is said to be replaced with a Plus Key, which is a programmable shortcut button. This button is designed to implement quick actions such as opening the camera, setting profiles, or launching applications.

Oneplus 15R is officially confirmed to run on the Android 16 powered OxygenOS 16 update. Rumoured specifications point to a top tier hardware setup. The phone is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM. Power is anticipated to come from a massive 7,800 mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging.

For visuals, the device is thought to bring a 6.83 inch LTPS AMOLED display offering a 1.5K resolution and a super smooth 165Hz refresh rate. The camera section may include a 50MP OIS main sensor accompanied by an 8MP ultra wide lens, alongside a 16MP front camera for selfies.

Additional rumoured features include Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, an IR blaster, and dual stereo speakers, showcasing well built hardware. However, the lack of wireless charging may be a factor for some potential buyers. The crucial question remains whether the Oneplus 15R can redefine the crowded mid premium segment and effectively compete against brands such as iQOO, Vivo, and Xiaomi.
