Nothing has introduced the Phone (3a) Community Edition in India, a limited edition model developed in collaboration with its global community. The smartphone is part of the company’s Community Edition Project, which invites creators to contribute directly to real consumer products. The 2025 programme includes creator involvement across hardware, software, accessories, and marketing, highlighting the company’s focus on shared innovation instead of traditional user feedback.
The project received more than 700 submissions from contributors around the world. From these, four creators were selected to shape important elements of the new device.
The hardware design and packaging for the Phone (3a) Community Edition were created by Emre Kayganacl. His work draws inspiration from technology trends from the late 1990s and early 2000s. The accessories category was introduced for the first time this year and features the Dice, a collectable designed by Ambrogio Tacconi and Louis Aymonod. It uses the company’s Ndot 55 font and global symbols of play to match the brand’s design approach.
In software, designer Jad Zock created a custom lock screen clock that uses variable font weights to improve clarity and reduce visual noise. The device also includes four new wallpapers that align with the colour styles and interface of the phone. The marketing campaign, titled Made Together and led by Sushruta Sarkar, highlights the shared creation journey and the role of the community.
Nothing stated that this collaborative model goes beyond design. It includes steps such as an elected Community Board Observer and a new five million dollar community investment fund under its one point three billion dollar Series C valuation. Investors will receive early access to the fund on December ten, followed by public access on December eleven.
