Excitement is building around Motorola’s next smartphone as the Edge 70 series inches closer to its India debut.
Motorola has started teasing the Edge 70 series in three colour options on an online shopping platform, though the official launch date is yet to be announced. Leaks suggest the phone could be launched in India around December fifteen.
One of the biggest highlights of the upcoming device is its ultra slim design. The company is promoting its thickness as a key selling point. On the teaser page, the phone is compared to a pencil that is seven millimetres thick, while the Edge 70 is shown to be just five point nine nine millimetres slim.
The trend of slim smartphones has been seen this year, but most of them have not performed well in sales. Samsung launched its slim Galaxy model earlier this year, while Apple introduced the iPhone Air. Reports suggest both brands may not continue this slim series due to weak demand. Tecno also released the Pova Slim 5G with a thickness of five point nine five millimetres, though its sales performance remains unclear.
The Motorola Edge 70 has already launched in select global markets in October, giving a clear idea of what Indian buyers can expect.
The smartphone features a six point six seven inch one point five K pOLED display with a one hundred twenty hertz refresh rate and a peak brightness of four thousand five hundred nits. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass seven i.
Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon seven Gen four chipset, paired with up to twelve GB of RAM and five hundred twelve GB of internal storage. It runs on Android sixteen out of the box.
For photography, the phone offers a dual rear camera setup with a fifty MP primary sensor with OIS and a fifty MP ultra wide lens with a one hundred twenty degree field of view. The front camera is also a fifty MP shooter. Both front and rear cameras support four K video recording at thirty frames per second.
The device comes with IP sixty eight and IP sixty nine ratings for water and dust resistance along with military grade durability certification. It is backed by a four thousand eight hundred mAh battery with support for sixty eight W fast charging and fifteen W wireless charging.
The previous Edge model started at twenty five thousand nine hundred ninety nine rupees in India. Due to recent memory price increases, the Edge 70 is expected to start closer to the thirty thousand rupee range.
