Maharashtra Govt Sets Up Rs.200 Crore Cyber Crime Security Corporation

The government has released the plan for the Maharashtra Cyber Crime Security Corporation (MCCSC), which it says would safeguard the public, the government, and private sector businesses from cybercrimes and the dangers they pose.

With a capital investment of Rs200 crore and 100% paid and subscribed capital, the corporation would be established in accordance with the Companies Act of 2013. In its decree on Tuesday, the government authorized the corporation’s board of directors and personnel.

The state underlined that with the establishment of MCCSC, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell under the state police will continue to operate autonomously.

Along with ex-officio directors, the MCCSC will be led by the additional chief secretary (Home), the director general of police or their designee, the principal secretary of the information technology department or their designee, the additional chief secretary of the finance department or their nominee, the additional chief secretary of the planning department or their nominee, and the principal secretary (special) in the home department.

The managing director and chief executive of MCCSC will be the additional DG or special inspector general of police who oversees the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. In addition, the state will choose three independent directors from among those with expertise in cybersecurity technology, an institution that focuses on the topic, and a lawyer who specializes in cybercrimes.

Additionally, the state has approved the hiring of a 99-person team to operate the new organization. In addition, the firm can hire or enlist the assistance of professionals in the fields of accounting and finance, law, and business affairs.
