Koenig & Bauer AG has revealed its leadership shift, with Stephen Kimmich set to succeed Andreas Pleßke as CEO in June 2025. Kimmich, currently the CFO and Deputy CEO, will take over the role following Pleßke’s planned retirement at the end of 2025. Pleßke, who will continue to serve as a member of the Executive Board until then, expressed confidence in Kimmich’s ability to lead the company forward. “I am very pleased that Stephen Kimmich is succeeding me as CEO. He has proven in recent years as CFO and Deputy CEO that he can lead Koenig & Bauer successfully,” Pleßke stated, acknowledging Kimmich’s comprehensive knowledge of the company’s markets, technologies, and finance.
Kimmich, who joined Koenig & Bauer in 2020, has gained extensive experience across the company, from finance to mergers and acquisitions. With a background in mechanical engineering and business administration, he has developed a deep understanding of international business processes over his 25 years in the industrial and automotive sectors. “Koenig & Bauer looks back on a success story spanning over 200 years. Over the last five years, I have cultivated a deep passion for this excellent company and our industry,” Kimmich said, sharing his enthusiasm for leading the company into the future with a strong management team.
The company has also appointed Alexander Blum as the new CFO, effective July 2025. Blum, who holds a doctorate in business administration, brings over 20 years of experience in finance, having worked in a variety of industries, including IT, logistics, and mechanical engineering. “With Alexander Blum, we have gained an excellent candidate who brings extensive international experience in the financial and capital markets sector,” said Dagmar Rehm, Deputy Chairwoman of the supervisory board.
To ensure a smooth transition, Blum will begin his role on May 1, 2025. The company is undergoing a significant restructuring, focusing on reducing its business segments from three to two and streamlining the Executive Board from five to two members by 2026. The reorganization aims to accelerate Koenig & Bauer’s ability to meet customer needs with greater agility and efficiency.
In conclusion, with Kimmich’s appointment as CEO and Blum’s as CFO, Koenig & Bauer is preparing for a new era of leadership, backed by a committed management team poised to tackle future challenges and drive success.
