JLR’s Grand Shift: Electric Dreams Fuelled by Vision and Velocity

Jaguar Land Rover JLR is preparing to turn over a powerful new leaf, with electric versions across all its iconic nameplates set to arrive by the end of this decade. This bold move is part of JLR’s ambitious Reimagine strategy, which Chairman N Chandrasekaran proudly highlighted in Tata Motors’ 80th Integrated Annual Report.

“JLR continues to realise its Reimagine strategy this year, completing works to transform its UK plants for electric vehicle production,” Chandrasekaran affirmed, as the company fast-tracks upgrades across its manufacturing units to embrace an all-electric future.

From the next-gen electric Range Rover to a completely reimagined Jaguar lineup, JLR is building the foundation of a carbon net zero future by 2039, a goal that extends through its operations and supply chains. As luxury automakers worldwide pivot toward sustainability, JLR is carving its own path where refined design meets advanced electric technology.

Financially, JLR held steady in FY25, clocking £29 billion in revenue, with a targeted 8.5 percent EBIT margin and a positive net cash position. “JLR delivered a robust financial performance and strong operational progress in FY25,” Chandrasekaran added, underscoring the brand’s resilience and sharpened efficiency despite global headwinds.

India is also playing a starring role in this journey. Chief Commercial Officer Leonard Hoornik recently shared that JLR’s business in the country is expected to double within three years, crediting it to “strong products and strong team.” With 40 percent year-on-year growth and 6,183 units sold, India has placed JLR as the third most preferred luxury auto brand in the region.

The rapid expansion is not limited to sales. JLR is planning to double its retail presence across India, where it currently has just over 20 touchpoints—far fewer than its German competitors. What’s driving the charge? Local assembly. Since rolling out locally built Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models last year, sales have surged by 2.5 times, proving that luxury made closer to home drives deeper loyalty.

JLR’s electric evolution is more than a transition. It is a statement—a commitment to a cleaner, sharper, and more sustainable tomorrow.
