Iron Mountain expands AI compute plans in India to support GCC growth

Iron Mountain is a global leader in storage and information management. The company has started speaking with potential customers in India to offer compute infrastructure for AI training and inference workloads. This move supports its strategy to provide scalable AI and data solutions to enterprises, cloud providers, and Global Capability Centres.

Iron Mountain currently operates 14 MW of live compute capacity in India. It expects an additional 6 MW to be ready by the end of 2025. This expansion aims to meet the rising demand for AI driven enterprise workloads in different sectors including the strong and growing GCC ecosystem.

The company plans to build two large campuses in India. One will be an 80 MW facility in Mumbai. The other will be a 50 MW facility in Chennai. These centres will focus on AI led computing, cloud applications, and enterprise workloads. This will support India in becoming a strong global hub for AI infrastructure.

Iron Mountain’s plan shows the growing importance of India in high performance computing, cloud services, and AI technology. With dedicated infrastructure for global capability centres, multinational companies, and technology enterprises, the company is enabling faster AI training and inference for global clients. It is also supporting secure data management and helping businesses benefit from India’s skilled IT talent.

Global demand for AI compute continues to grow. Iron Mountain’s upcoming facilities in Mumbai and Chennai are expected to improve India’s role in the worldwide AI and cloud infrastructure market.
