India AI Expo 2026 closed on Feb 19, public access shifted to Feb 21

Amid heightened security and strong public interest, the India AI Expo Summit 2026 will see a change in its public access plan, with the event remaining closed on February 19 and extending its run by an additional day on February 21, a senior government official said on Wednesday.

The summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 19. However, the expo area will not be open to the public on that day due to restrictions linked to the high-level inauguration.

“The expo will remain closed on February 19. It has been extended by a day due to huge enthusiasm. It will remain open on Saturday, February 21,” said Electronics and IT Secretary S Krishnan.

Krishnan said the inaugural session will see participation from 20 heads of states, including French President Emmanuel Macron. The presence of multiple global leaders has led to tighter security arrangements at the venue.

“We don’t want any inconvenience to public due to restrictions that is why it has been decided to not open expo tomorrow,” he said.

With the added day on February 21, visitors will still get an extended opportunity to attend the expo, which has drawn strong interest ahead of its opening.
