Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, said on Wednesday that it was replacing Sissie Hsiao, who spearheaded the creation of the AI chatbot Bard, now called Gemini.
According to a business spokeswoman, Hsiao will resign immediately. She will be replaced by Josh Woodward, head of Google Labs and the man behind the introduction of NotebookLM, the company’s well-liked tool for converting text into a podcast-like program.
Hsiao intends to take a little vacation before rejoining Google in a different capacity, the official stated. A request for comment from Reuters was not immediately answered.
According to a Semafor article that first reported on the change, citing a memo, Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, stated that the move will let the firm focus on the expansion of the Gemini app.
According to the representative, Woodward will continue to lead Google Labs while directing Gemini’s next phase.
In an effort to simplify its organization and improve its standing in the generative AI race, Google moved the Gemini app’s development team to DeepMind, its AI research center, last year.
