Flipkart Faces Backlash After YouTuber Receives Used MacBook Pro Twice in Rs 2.6 Lakh Purchase

A shocking incident has surfaced involving popular tech YouTube creator Devanshu Dhandhal, who alleges that he was duped by Flipkart not once, but twice, after ordering a brand-new MacBook Pro worth ₹2.6 lakh. According to his claims, instead of receiving a new laptop, he was sent visibly used and old devices, both times, even though the boxes appeared factory-sealed.

The nightmare began when Dhandhal placed an order for a premium MacBook Pro on Flipkart. Upon receiving the package, he discovered clear signs that the device was not new—smudges, marks and signs of prior usage were visible. Hoping for a resolution, he contacted Flipkart and requested a replacement.

Determined not to repeat the mistake, Dhandhal unboxed the second laptop inside an EKart logistics facility under CCTV surveillance. To his dismay, this replacement also turned out to be a used MacBook with visible wear, confirming his suspicions of seller malpractice.

What followed was an exhausting ordeal with Flipkart’s customer support team. Initially offered ₹13,000 as compensation, then ₹18,000, Dhandhal turned down both. Eventually, Flipkart proposed a 10 percent refund. He declined again, pointing out that the stress, time loss and breach of trust warranted a serious response—not a token gesture.

In his social media post, Dhandhal voiced frustration not only with the faulty products but also with Flipkart’s alleged inaction. “And after all this negotiation, they rejected the return. So I called them again and I asked for 10 per cent compensation as it was a lot of hassle talking to them. Moreover, I was able to clean the marks, but the laptop was not new in the first place,” he said.

He further accused company of ignoring ongoing complaints against the same seller, who reportedly has a trail of fraud allegations since 2023 across platforms like LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube and X. Despite this, Flipkart continues to promote the seller under its trusted ‘Assured’ label.

“This isn’t a mistake, it’s negligence. You are enabling fraud through your platform,” Dhandhal declared, urging company to take swift action.

In response, Flipkart replied, “We’d never want you to get anything but what you ordered, and we are extremely sorry about this instance. We want to sort this out for you. Please help us with your order details securely, so we can look into this.”
