In a major crackdown on cybercrime, Delhi Police has uncovered a network of mule bank accounts allegedly used to facilitate online fraud and arrested 3 people involved in the operation.
The investigation revealed that the accused were providing bank accounts to cybercriminals to receive and transfer money obtained through various scams. These mule accounts were allegedly used to move fraudulent funds and make it difficult for authorities to trace the money trail.
According to police officials, the racket was being operated through multiple bank accounts opened in the names of different individuals. The accused allegedly collected account details from people and handed them over to cyber fraudsters in exchange for commissions.
During the operation, police seized several mobile phones, debit cards, cheque books and other documents linked to the illegal activities. Investigators found that the network was used in multiple cyber fraud cases reported across different regions.
Officials said mule bank accounts have become a key tool for cybercriminals to hide transactions and quickly move stolen money. The police are now trying to identify other people involved in the network and trace additional accounts used for fraudulent activities.
Authorities have urged citizens not to share or rent out their bank accounts, debit cards or financial credentials to unknown individuals, warning that such actions could lead to legal consequences.
The latest action is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb cyber fraud and disrupt financial networks supporting online scams. Further investigation into the case is underway.
