Cognizant Names Sailaja Josyula as Global Head of GCC Service Line

Cognizant has appointed former EY executive Sailaja Josyula as the new global head of its Global Capability Center (GCC) service line. Based in Hyderabad, Josyula will lead the design and execution of Cognizant’s global GCC strategy, ensuring it remains future-ready and focused on client needs, the company said in a statement.

Before her recent stint at EY as Partner leading the Managed Services Delivery practice, Josyula had an extensive career at Cognizant spanning over six years. She also held leadership roles at Thomson Reuters and HSBC, where she led global payment operations during her 16-year tenure, all based in Hyderabad.

In her new role, Cognizant stated that Josyula “will establish and lead a cross-functional team to help clients build and scale next-generation GCCs, ensuring seamless setup and delivery.” Her experience in driving large-scale offshore delivery and customer experience transformation is expected to strengthen the firm’s GCC leadership.

Last month, a report noted that Cognizant is among several IT majors building dedicated GCC practices to help global companies establish capability centres in India. This initiative is being led by Surya Gummadi, President, Americas, at Cognizant.

“Sailaja truly understands our business, our clients, and our team,” said Gummadi. “With her extensive experience and proven track record, Sailaja’s leadership will boost our ability to build and scale GCCs, delivering great value for our clients. Her return to Cognizant is a big milestone as we look to seize the GCC opportunity.”

Between 2018 and 2024, Josyula held multiple leadership roles at Cognizant, including Centre Head of Hyderabad and Global Head of BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) Operations Delivery. Her contributions significantly enhanced the operational capabilities of the Hyderabad centre and the Financial Services IOA (Input-Output Application) business.

A chemical engineer by training and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, Josyula is a fellow of the International Women’s Leadership Forum and an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
