Expanding its premium audio lineup, Apple has introduced its latest over-ear headphones with upgraded performance and intelligent capabilities.
The AirPods Max 2 have been launched in India at a price of ₹67,900. The headphones are available in 5 colour options — Blue, Midnight, Orange, Purple, and Starlight. Customers in the US and over 30 countries can place orders starting March 25 through Apple’s official website and the Apple Store app, with deliveries and retail availability beginning early next month.
Apple is also offering AppleCare+ and Care One (in the US), which include coverage for accidental damage, theft and loss (on eligible products), battery replacement, and 24/7 support. New users will get 3 months of Apple Music for free with the purchase.
The new headphones are powered by it’s H2 chip, replacing the earlier H1 chip. The company claims this upgrade improves Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) by up to 1.5 times, helping reduce environmental noise such as airplane engines and city sounds. Transparency mode has also been enhanced to make outside sounds feel more natural.
It has upgraded the audio system with a high-dynamic-range amplifier. This delivers better bass, clearer mids, and sharper highs. The headphones support 24-bit, 48kHz lossless audio via USB Type-C and offer ultra-low latency audio, making them suitable for gaming and professional use. Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking continues to be supported.
New smart features include Adaptive Audio, which adjusts noise levels based on surroundings, and Conversation Awareness, which lowers volume when the user starts speaking. Live Translation, powered by Apple Intelligence, allows real-time language communication. Voice Isolation improves call clarity by reducing background noise.
For creators, the headphones support studio-quality recording, while the Digital Crown can be used as a camera remote. Other features include Loud Sound Reduction, Personalised Volume, and new Siri interactions with head gestures.
The AirPods Max 2 offer up to 20 hours of battery life with ANC and Spatial Audio enabled, along with fast charging support. Apple also highlighted sustainability efforts, with recycled materials used in magnets, ear cushions, and circuit boards, along with fully fibre-based packaging aligned with its Apple 2030 goals.
