The Department of Telecommunications, in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union, organised the AI for Good Impact India Conference 2025 at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) in New Delhi. The summit was inaugurated by Telecom Secretary Dr. Neeraj Mittal and Deputy Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Policy Department, Bilel Jamoussi.
During the inauguration, Dr. Mittal spoke about the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, stating that AI can significantly enhance network intelligence and customer service. He also cautioned that people must remain alert against the misuse of AI, including deepfakes and financial fraud.
Focus on governance, security, and ethics
The conference featured discussions on AI governance, cybersecurity, ethics, and global collaboration. It brought together policymakers, industry leaders, startups, and academic experts to explore ways to promote safe and ethical AI development.
Experts at the summit emphasised the importance of responsible innovation and the need to align AI development with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The event also showcased how AI can drive positive change when developed with transparency, inclusivity, and accountability.
India’s growing role in shaping global AI standards
The AI for Good Impact India Conference highlighted India’s growing influence in the global AI landscape. Through initiatives such as the 1.25 billion dollar IndiaAI Mission, the country is advancing the development of trusted, inclusive, and human-centric AI technologies.
The discussions reaffirmed India’s commitment to establishing strong AI governance frameworks and its leadership in shaping international AI standards for the greater good.
