In a bold and visionary move, global hotel giant Accor and aviation-to-hospitality group InterGlobe have announced an expanded alliance aimed at reshaping India’s hotel landscape. By 2030, their joint ambition is to create the country’s third-largest hospitality platform, operating 300 hotels under Accor’s diverse brand umbrella — including iconic names like Ibis, Mercure, and luxury gems from Ennismore.
At the heart of this grand venture lies an investment in budget hotel chain Treebo, which will now be helmed by Accor and InterGlobe as its largest shareholders. Treebo, already managing 800 hotels across 120 Indian cities, will take the reins in growing Accor’s economy and midscale offerings through a strategic master license agreement.
Treebo has already inked deals for 10 new Mercure hotels, and this collaboration gives Accor access to Treebo’s advanced, tech-powered distribution system. The goal? A stronger foothold in India’s fast-growing budget travel segment, where organized, branded hospitality is still finding its rhythm.
Accor’s current footprint includes 71 operating properties across the country, with 40 more under development. By bringing together Treebo’s deep network and tech agility with Accor’s world-class service standards, the alliance is poised to offer over 30,000 rooms under one powerful platform.
More than just a business deal, this partnership taps into a cultural shift — as India gears up to become the world’s third-largest domestic travel market by 2027. With more people exploring the country than ever before, the need for reliable, tech-savvy, and experience-driven accommodations is rising fast.
In a joint statement, Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of Accor, called it a “landmark partnership” that represents a “transformative moment” for the brand in India. Meanwhile, Rahul Bhatia, Group Managing Director at InterGlobe, said, “Together with Accor’s world-class services and India’s evolving travel landscape, we aim to redefine the hospitality experience and set new standards for excellence.”
As the tides of travel change and aspirations rise, this partnership promises to write a new chapter in India’s hospitality story — one where tech meets tradition, scale meets soul, and global excellence meets local opportunity.
