Google is rolling out new AI powered updates to its Flight Deals tool to help travellers find cheaper airfares and plan trips more easily. The tool, which was first introduced in the United States, Canada and India, is now launching globally across more than two hundred countries and territories. It now supports over sixty languages and will be available in key markets including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan and Korea.
The AI driven feature in Google Flights identifies low cost destinations based on a user’s preferred dates, location and travel style. Travellers can simply describe where, when and how they want to travel, and the system will generate the best available fare options within Google Flights.
Google is also adding new features to AI Mode, its experimental search interface. Users in the United States who are part of Labs can now use a workspace called Canvas to create complete travel itineraries. Canvas collects real time information on flights, hotels, restaurants and activities by using data from Search, Google Maps and other sources across the web. Selecting “Create with Canvas” produces a structured itinerary that includes hotel comparisons, reviews, photos and activity suggestions based on travel time. Users can ask follow up questions to refine their plans, such as choosing between staying close to restaurants or near hiking areas.
The company is also expanding the task completion abilities of AI Mode to all users in the United States. The tool can now help book restaurant reservations, event tickets and beauty and wellness appointments. Users can share details such as date, time, group size, cuisine or preferred location, and AI Mode will check multiple platforms to find available options.
Google says it plans to add the ability to book flights and hotels directly through AI Mode in the future. Travellers will be able to describe their preferences and compare schedules, prices, room photos, amenities and reviews within a single conversational experience.
