LAT Aerospace reveals fully electric fixed wing UAV with uSTOL capability

A new fully electric fixed wing UAV developed by LAT Aerospace has been unveiled, marking a major step forward for the young aviation technology company. The drone was presented by Deepinder Goyal, who shared the first images and a short video of the aircraft, describing it as a model built entirely from scratch in just a few months.

Goyal shared the update on a social platform and wrote, “Our first uSTOL technology demonstrator is ready. Today, we have a fully electric, fixed wing UAV, built from scratch and almost ready for flight.” The company was established in January 2025 by Goyal and Surobhi Das with the aim of creating a new class of Short Take Off and Landing aircraft that can operate from compact air stops instead of full scale airports.

The latest UAV is designed for extremely short take off distances. Goyal said it can lift off within 40 meters due to a high lift coefficient of 5. He noted that this is more than twice the value seen in most aircraft. The UAV has an endurance of 60 minutes and a range suitable for autonomous flights such as Mumbai to Pune.

Ground rolls for the aircraft have already been completed. Goyal said the team is now focused on getting it airborne soon. He added, “Either way, I promise videos of our attempt sometime over the next few weeks.”

LAT Aerospace has made rapid progress in just over ten months. The company is simultaneously researching hybrid electric propulsion and assembling a team to work on its own gas turbine engines. Goyal called the development work “one of the hardest engineering challenges possible” and said the team is committed to achieving its goals before the end of the decade.
