Butter Payments Names Sonali Sambhus as Chief Technology Officer

Butter Payments, a leading machine learning-powered payments recovery platform, has announced the appointment of Sonali Sambhus as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This move strengthens the company’s senior leadership team and reflects its continued focus on technology-driven growth within the subscription economy.

The appointment comes shortly after the addition of Sofya Pogreb as Chief Executive Officer and Charles Rosenblatt as Chief Commercial Officer. These leadership changes demonstrate Butter’s commitment to scaling its technology, operations, and executive capabilities to meet rising global demand.

Sonali Sambhus joins Butter as an experienced technology leader known for building and expanding AI and ML-driven fintech platforms. She previously led the Developer and ML Platform at Block Inc. (formerly Square), where she played a key role in advancing platform growth and strategic initiatives. Sambhus has also held senior roles at Realtor.com and Vuclip Inc., co-founded the data analytics startup 10jumps Inc. (later acquired by Saggezza Inc.), and served on the board of directors at AvidXchange. She currently serves as an advisory board member at Illuminate Ventures and has worked with several AI and fintech startups through Thrrive Ventures, including Worth AI and Dwarpaal.

“Sonali’s deep technical expertise and proven leadership in scaling intelligent platforms will play a critical role in Butter’s next phase of innovation,” said Sofya Pogreb, CEO of Butter Payments. “As Butter continues its growth trajectory, her expertise in scaling AI-powered products will be instrumental in enhancing our technology and delivering even greater value to our clients.”

Butter Payments uses patented machine learning models to predict and prevent failed transactions, a challenge that leads to over 440 billion dollars in lost revenue every year for the subscription industry. By analysing behavioural, transactional, and network data, Butter helps companies such as Cerebral, FuturHealth, The Athletic, and Athena Club recover lost revenue, reduce churn, and accelerate recurring growth.

“I’m excited to join Butter Payments at such a pivotal moment in the company’s growth,” said Sonali Sambhus. “Butter’s ML-driven approach is reshaping how subscription businesses recover lost revenue. I look forward to advancing the technology that makes this possible and supporting our clients’ continued growth.”
