Wishing Mr. Satyakam Arya greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has announced that its managing director and chief executive officer Satyakam Arya will take over as president and chief executive officer of Hino Motors from 1 April 2026. In his new role he will head global operations and support the planned integration of the commercial vehicle subsidiaries of Daimler Truck and Toyota Motor Corporation, which include Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors.
Achim Puchert, member of the board of management of Daimler Truck Holding AG, said in a statement, “Satyakam has been an outstanding leader during his time with us, demonstrating exceptional expertise in commercial vehicle operations and a deep commitment to customer success. His strategic acumen and proven ability to drive transformation position him perfectly for this new leadership role. We wish him all the best in his new role and in the years ahead.”
Under Arya’s leadership, DICV recorded significant profitability growth across its trucks and buses portfolio and doubled its customer base across all segments. The dealership network expanded from 182 to more than 385 touchpoints across India, bringing the BharatBenz brand closer to customers.
The company made strong progress on sustainability by becoming the first commercial vehicle manufacturer in India to shift completely to renewable energy. It also secured the country’s first IGBC Green Factory Building V2 certification. DICV advanced industry standards by introducing cabin compliance with the EU safety standard ECE R29 03 and launching products such as TorqShift AMT tippers and the HX Series while ensuring a smooth BS VI OBD2 transition. The organisation also strengthened its culture through diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Arya played a key role in promoting the BharatBenz Way, an approach that advanced the company’s total quality management journey and encouraged innovation, customer focus and collaborative engagement across the value chain.
Sharing his views on the industry outlook, Arya said, “India’s commercial vehicle industry is entering a transformative decade. With infrastructure investments accelerating and the push toward sustainable mobility gaining momentum, the fundamentals for growth have never been stronger. DICV has built a solid foundation, exceptional leadership, and the momentum to capitalise on these opportunities. I’m confident the team will continue to reach new heights.”
Speaking about his new role he added, “Leading Hino Motors is both an honour and an opportunity. I’m excited to contribute to this integration while building on Hino’s rich 80 year heritage and creating value for customers across global markets.”
Succession planning for DICV is underway and updates will be shared soon. His appointment highlights the strategic importance of the planned Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors integration as he returns to Japan with proven transformation experience.
